Every day we make a choice in how we live our lives. We can choose to set our focus on the things of the world and bear the fruits of the world. Or, we can choose to set our eyes on Jesus and live out of the power and peace of the Holy Spirit.

In Romans 8:2-13, Paul talks to us in depth about this exact choice and what it looks like to live out the choice to live by the Spirit as followers of Jesus. As you examine the passage further, take time to ponder these two ideas God gave us in the scripture…

Jesus has set us free and the Holy Spirit has empowers us to live in a way that we were not able to before. The Holy Spirit’s power is in us and gives us the ability to live the life God has designed for us.

IDEA 2: You can tell what power source you’re running on by whether you are experiencing life and peace or chaos and death. When we set our minds on God and repent from our worldly focuses, God is able to turn our chaos into peace and work in and through us in miraculous ways.

Throughout the week, take time to read through these passages and let God’s word reveal new truths to you and let those truths set you free.
Colossians 3:1-3
Galatians 5:16-25
Ephesians 4:20-24
1 Corinthians 2:10-12
Romans 12:1-2

In your prayer time, take time to pray through these things…
-Ask the Holy Spirit to make his empowering present to us today – to live by the Holy Spirit’s Power not by our own power.
-God would you reveal to me the places where my mind is not set on you, but on the world. Would you open my eyes to where I am plugged into the world and don’t even know it.
-Jesus would you shape my thinking to match yours? I want to think the thoughts you think so I can be plugged into you 24/7.
