For Goodness’ Sake: Turning Down the Voices That Keep Us Hiding In the Garden of Eden, our original blessing was to flourish in the life God wanted to share with us, a life in which He declared that everything was very good. Gratefully, through Christ, for goodness’ sake, we are brought back to that first blessing.
Yet, like Eve, we discover that there are other voices in our garden relationship with God, voices we’ve grown accustomed to, voices that work against the Voice of Love that is always for us. And so we are left with some honest questions: Who are these enemies of the soul? Where did they come from? And how do we learn to turn their volume down so we can hear God’s voice more clearly, inviting us to come out of hiding and, for goodness’ sake, to live as our true selves,
Meet Christine: Christine Mjoen is the Director of Training and Supervision at the Transformational Listening Center, a two-year program focused on spiritual formation and certification in spiritual direction. She also serves on staff at LifePlace Counseling Center, where she offers formal spiritual direction and leads off-site retreats designed to help participants encounter the goodness of God’s love in meaningful and transformative ways.
Ordained as a minister, Christine served for 12 years as the Director of Women and the Director of Care, supporting non-denominational congregations and the broader community. With more than two decades of experience, she has provided oversight and guidance in both group and individual settings, fostering emotionally healthy spirituality for women and men alike.
Christine and her family are active members of Libertyville Chapel, where she serves as co-coordinator of the evening MomCo ministry, supporting mothers across all ages and stages of parenting. She and her husband of 36 years have raised three amazing humans and cherish the two daughters-in-law who have grown their family to seven.
