Behind the Shield: Living Covered in a World that Wounds Psalm 3:3 says, “You, O Lord, are a shield around me.” In this session, we’ll explore what it means to live behind the shield of the Lord. In our world today, we face a constant barrage of hurtful words, lies, and messages that quietly wear on our souls. Often, it feels like there’s nothing we can do but endure. But as followers of Jesus, we are not powerless. God has given us a way to stand. Living behind the shield is not hiding from reality. It’s learning to hide our hearts in Him in the midst of reality. With the Lord as our shield, our experience of what comes against us begins to change, and we become more shaped by intimacy with Jesus behind the shield than by the battle raging outside of it. During our time together, you will learn how to hide yourself in God and be guided through the Shield Prayer, so you can walk away equipped to live covered in a world that wounds. Meet Tammy: Tammy grew up in a small town in Ohio, where she was raised by her grandma. She has been married to her best friend, Scott, for 36 years. In 1994, they planted The Chapel and love what God is doing through the church. Tammy worked as a physical therapist, Bible and theology teacher, and is currently a pastor, but her favorite job is nana. Mom to four and nana to two, Tammy spends much of her time supporting her family. Both her daughters are adopted from China, and adoption is very close to her heart.
Tammy’s passion in ministry is to encourage and equip people to walk in the healing, hope, and freedom that come from having a relationship with Jesus Christ. She currently serves as The Chapel’s pastor of kingdom ministry and, in that role, leads our prayer ministries and teaches classes that help people learn how to hear God’s voice, partner with the Holy Spirit, and connect with God in prayer. Jesus has profoundly impacted Tammy’s life, and she doesn’t know where she’d be without Him. She loves studying the Bible and teaching and especially loves ministering to women, because there is nothing quite like the beautiful combination of estrogen and the Holy Spirit.
