Easter at The Chapel - Come and See
John 20:1–18 shows two different journeys to belief in the resurrection through Mary Magdalene and John.
Mary arrives at the tomb early, while it is still dark, and sees that the stone has been moved. Her first response is confusion and concern—she assumes someone has taken Jesus’ body. She runs to tell Peter and John what she thinks has happened.
Peter and John both race to the tomb, with John arriving first. When he looks in, he sees the burial cloths lying there. In that moment, something begins to shift—he starts to understand and believe. The details in front of him cause him to reconsider everything Jesus had said, leading him toward faith in the resurrection.
