Mountains - Week 5

The story of the Transfiguration invites us into a sacred moment where the fullness of Jesus’ identity is revealed. As he stands on the mountain with his face shining like the sun and his clothes dazzling white, Jesus is joined by Moses and Elijah—representing the law and the prophets. Not wanting the moment to end, Peter offers to build three tents, one for each of them. But then, the voice of the Father breaks through the cloud: “This is my son… Listen to him.”

In that instant, Moses and Elijah vanish, leaving only Jesus—signifying that he is the fulfillment of everything that came before. It’s a powerful declaration, not only of who Jesus is but of his unrivaled authority. While Moses reflected God’s glory after encountering him, Jesus is the glory—he is the light.

This moment reminds us that Jesus is not simply a good teacher or a source of help in hard times. He is Lord over all creation, every nation, and every part of our lives. We all face the temptation to reduce him to a quick fix or comforting presence, but the Transfiguration calls us to a deeper surrender. It confronts the parts of us where we’ve compartmentalized Jesus and invites us to place everything under his lordship. Click on the link below to hear this week’s message!
