Easter at The Chapel 2025

Thomas, often called “Doubting Thomas,” was a disciple who had every reason to believe in the resurrection. He had walked with Jesus, heard his teachings, witnessed miracles, and even seen the dead raised to life. But when the other disciples told him they had seen the risen Christ, Thomas didn’t believe it. He said, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” (John 20:25)

Like many of us, Thomas wrestled with doubt. Sometimes the pain of unmet expectations, the silence of God, or the weight of life’s brokenness makes it hard to believe in God—even when we long to. Yet Jesus didn’t dismiss or shame Thomas. Instead, he met him right where he was, offering his wounds as proof of life and love.

At that moment, everything changed for Thomas, and his response was to worship: “My Lord and my God.” The resurrection went from something he had heard about to something he experienced. It became real—and it transformed him. For the rest of his life, Thomas lived with boldness and conviction, carrying the message of Jesus as far as China and India and laying down his life for the Gospel.

If you’re carrying doubt today about God’s goodness, his nearness, or your place in his story, know this: Jesus welcomes you. He’s not waiting for you to get it all figured out. He’s offering you himself. The resurrection isn’t just something to believe in; it’s a doorway to new life, new purpose, and a love that meets you exactly where you are.
