Living the Dream - Week 4

At the height of his reign, God interrupted Nebuchadnezzar with a disturbing dream, one he didn’t understand. Nebuchadnezzar wasn’t looking for God, but God was looking for him. His story is a powerful reminder that God doesn’t wait for us to make the first move. He is relentless in his pursuit of us, even when we’re living far from him.

Daniel was able to interpret the dream, warning him that pride would lead to his downfall, and urging him to repent. And though Nebuchadnezzar acknowledged God’s greatness and even praised him, he still refused to surrender. He kept building his own kingdom, clinging to control and pride.

It wasn’t until his kingdom crumbled and he reached the end of himself that he finally lifted his eyes to heaven and surrendered in worship to the One who had been in charge all along. And that’s when everything changed.

Nebuchadnezzar’s story invites us to ask: Who’s in charge in my life? Am I still clinging to my own dreams, my own vision of success, my own version of control?

God isn’t looking to fit into our plans. He’s inviting us into his. He’s inviting us to release our kingdoms so we can fully step into his. Because when his Kingdom comes, ours cannot remain. And when we finally surrender, when we release control and let our kingdoms go, that’s when we truly come alive.
