Called - The Women Jesus Knew - Part 1
She was caught. Not just in sin, but in a setup. Dragged into the temple courts, surrounded by a crowd, exposed and humiliated. The woman in John 8 wasn’t brought to Jesus for justice. She was bait in a trap. Her story was weaponized. Her dignity discarded. But Jesus doesn’t take the bait. He silently kneels in the dirt, refusing to play their game. And when he finally speaks, it’s not to condemn her, it’s to expose the brokenness of those who tried to use her. “Let the one without sin cast the first stone.” One by one, they walk away. And then he turns to her: “Where are your accusers?” They’re all gone. “Then neither do I condemn you. Go, and sin no more.”
This is the way of Jesus. He doesn’t ignore sin, and He doesn’t shame us for it. He sees it for what it truly is: a spiritual cancer that corrupts, isolates, and destroys. But Jesus didn’t come to condemn us. He came to heal. To forgive. To set us free.
He invites us to bring Him our sin, our shame, our offenses, even the ones we’ve carried so long they feel like who we are, even the ones we’ve used as protection. He wants all of it. Because His freedom isn’t partial, it’s complete.
So today, let Jesus into the mess. Let him kneel beside you in the dirt. Let him speak over your shame and silence your accusers. Give him your sin. Give him your life. Give him your offenses. He’s not here to punish you. He’s here to set you free.
