Called - The Women Jesus Knew - Part 3
In John 4, we see a woman who comes to draw water and leaves transformed. What begins as an ordinary moment becomes a divine encounter as Jesus meets her right in the middle of her pain and isolation. She comes to the well at noon. She is hiding from others and is weighed down by shame, but Jesus is waiting for her there. He doesn’t go around Samaria, the place most people avoided; He goes through it. In doing so, He shows that He’s not afraid of the uncomfortable or broken places in our lives. The very areas we try to avoid are often the ones where He most wants to meet us, not to condemn us, but to redeem our story.
When the kingdom of God breaks in, it disrupts the systems that depend on people staying stuck and broken. Jesus comes to confront anything that keeps us distant from Him and from one another. Like the woman at the well, we all have our “Samarias”—those hidden places of disappointment, fear, or sin that we’d rather not face. Yet Jesus steps right into them, inviting us to let go of what we’ve been holding and receive the living water that satisfies every thirst of the soul. He doesn’t just want to rescue us from something; He wants to transform us into vessels of His presence and grace in the world.
As you listen or re-listen to this week’s message, let Jesus meet you exactly where you are. He sees your story, He knows your struggles, and He wants to turn your deepest struggles into wells that overflow with life for you and for those around you.
