Called - The Women Jesus Knew - Part 4

Mary Magdalene’s story reminds us how Jesus rewrites our identity. Her name, Mary of Magdala, tied her to a town known for brokenness and immorality. Her very name carried the weight of her past. Yet this woman, once marked by seven demons and a complicated story, became one of Jesus’ most devoted followers. She stayed when others scattered at His death and showed up before sunrise at the tomb. While Peter and John saw the same empty tomb and left, Mary remained and pressed in. Because she stayed, she became the first to encounter the risen Jesus and the first to carry the news of His resurrection.

When Jesus speaks her name, everything shifts. He doesn’t call her “Mary of Magdala,” the label tied to shame and reputation. He simply says, “Mary.” With a single word, He restores dignity, identity, and worth.

Her encounter invites us to remember where Jesus met us and how He pulled us out of our own darkness. His voice calls us to Himself. He is personal, tender, and full of purpose, reminding us who we truly are in Him. And He longs to meet with you today.
