The Good Life - Part 3
Jesus paints a radically different picture of the good life than the one our culture promises. We’re told that more money, more success, and more possessions will satisfy us, but they never do. In Matthew 15, Jesus shows us a better way—a pathway to true abundance.
After days of teaching, Jesus found Himself surrounded by thousands of hungry people. Instead of sending them away, His heart was moved with compassion for both their physical and spiritual needs. He knew a miracle was coming, but instead of working alone, He invited His disciples to offer what little they had, some loaves and fish. He didn’t need their food, yet He chose to use it. Why? Because when we move from spectators to participants in God’s work, we are changed.
That’s the mystery of God’s kingdom: small things surrendered to Jesus can change the world. Seven loaves became more than enough to feed thousands, with abundance left over. The same is true for us. When our hands are full, we can’t receive what God wants to give. But when we come to Him with open hands, surrendering the things we have, He fills our lives with His abundance. Abundant life isn’t achieved by holding tighter. It’s received by letting go.
