Jesus Unfiltered - Loneliness

This week, as we continued our series Jesus Unfiltered, we looked at the emotion of loneliness throughout Jesus’ life. Loneliness is often misunderstood as simply being alone, but it’s an emotion we can feel even in the middle of a crowded room. Loneliness often stems from rejection, loss, disappointment, or abandonment—experiences that Jesus himself endured. He was rejected in his hometown (Mark 6:1-4), saw followers walk away (John 6:66-67), faced the deep disappointment of his closest friends falling asleep during his time of need (Matthew 26:38-45), and cried out in anguish when he felt abandoned by God on the cross (Matthew 27:46). Jesus understands the full weight of loneliness.
