Scripture

Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others—the armies of heaven— praising God and saying, “Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.”
Luke 2:13-14 NLT

Day Seven

As we go about our days, it’s easy to live as though the only thing happening is what we can see with our physical eyes. But the spiritual world is just as real as our physical one.

When Jesus is born, a vast army of angels accompanies him. They are messengers, worshipers, and warriors – servants of God who stand ready to fight on behalf of their King and his people. Beholding thousands of angels praising and glorifying God, the shepherds stand in awe as they witness the spiritual world in ways no one has ever witnessed before. What a powerful, incredible sight!

By witnessing the supernatural reality of the heavens, the shepherds come to know God in a new way. He is not distant and uninvolved. He is powerful, active, and near.

Angels are all around us, carrying out God’s plans. They watch over us and protect us. They minister to us, bring messages to us, and fight for us. They work together to do what God sends them to do. Yet, as amazing as angels are, what’s even more incredible is that God himself is active in our world and our lives as well.

The Holy Spirit draws us near to God so we can know him. He leads us, encourages us, comforts us, strengthens us, and sometimes surprises us. He deepens our faith, fills us with love, and transforms our hearts.

O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies! Where is there anyone as mighty as you, O Lord? (Psalm 89:8 NLT)

God is with us. May we learn to live in the reality of his presence and join the angels in giving him praise.

Prayer

Father, thank you for being so intimately involved in my life. Help me live in the reality of your presence. Open my spiritual eyes. I want to see you.
