Postcards From The New Testament - Jude
This week in our series, Postcards, we looked at the book of Jude. Jude writes with urgency, warning that dangerous influences have quietly slipped into the church. These false teachers were distorting the gospel, twisting God’s grace into permission for sin, and denying Jesus’ authority. Jude makes it clear that this is not new. Rebellion and deception have been part of the story of God’s people for thousands of years. And it’s not neutral. Left unchecked, it will destroy lives and faith.
Jude calls believers to “contend for the faith.” Not by becoming argumentative, but by becoming deeply rooted in Jesus. We do this by holding fast to the truth of Scripture, spending time in His presence until we recognize the counterfeit instantly, praying in the Holy Spirit, keeping ourselves in God’s love, showing mercy to those who waver, and rejecting sin. Our lives, not just our words, should be the clearest evidence of our theology.
Jude ends not with fear, but with confidence in the One “who is able to keep you from falling.” We don’t stand in our own strength; all glory, majesty, power, and authority belong to Him alone. In a time when politics, comfort, and culture threaten to shape our theology, Jude’s call still rings true. Jesus is not the king of a party or a trend. He is the King of kings. If we want to see God move in our day, we must keep our hearts and minds fixed on Jesus—remaining in God’s love, turning from sin, showing mercy to the wavering, and pursuing the life of the age to come, the life of His Kingdom.
