Spirit, Bring Your Kingdom. This is a prayer of intercession, asking the Spirit of God to intervene in a situation, whether that be right in front of you or a long distance away. In Acts 9, when the kind woman Tabitha dies, Peter puts everyone outside, kneels and prays (the text does not record the words, but the idea of calling on the Spirit is clearly implied). He turns to the body and says, “Tabitha, arise.” She opens her eyes and sits up. This is a direct echo of Jesus raising Jairus ’daughter, now done through Peter in the power of the Spirit. The implication is clear, we can carry on the same supernatural ministry of Jesus through short, simple prayers.
