In the story of the multiplication of the loaves and the fishes, we see Jesus transform a meager offering into extraordinary abundance. It is a vivid example of how God can transform what little we have into more than enough – regardless of the situation. Jesus reveals God as our faithful provider who meets all of our needs. There are a number of promises that we can lead into – but perhaps the most poignant is that of Matthew 6, “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.”
