Part 2: Heaven Has Come - What Happens When Jesus Comes into the Life of a New Believer
This week, we continued our series, Heaven Has Come, looking at the story of Zacchaeus, a wealthy and despised tax collector. When Jesus entered his city, Zacchaeus did something surprising and undignified for a man of his status—he ran ahead and climbed a tree to catch a glimpse of Jesus. Then Jesus did something equally unexpected. He stopped, called Zacchaeus by name, and told him he wanted to visit his house. This created a stir in the city. People wondered why Jesus would risk his reputation by associating with someone who was viewed as a traitor and sinner. But for Zacchaeus, this encounter changed everything. He pledged to give half his wealth to the poor and repay those he had cheated fourfold. In a single moment, his life and priorities were completely transformed.
Just like with Zacchaeus, Jesus sees you, knows you, and calls you by name. He isn’t ashamed of your past or where you’ve been. Instead, he invites you to trade in your old life for the new life he came to give you—a life where he is your King, your priorities shift, and your heart is forever transformed.
